Amanda Serrano vs Danila Ramos full card: World titles at stake on historic night for women's boxing

Amanda Serrano

For the first time in history, a women’s world championship bout will be contested over 12 three-minute rounds as Amanda Serrano puts her three titles on the line against Danila Ramos.

It’s been talked about for years, however this Friday night could mark a revolutionary moment for the sport.

Serrano, Claressa Shields, Mikaela Mayer and others have previously called for the introduction of three-minute rounds in female boxing.

There have also been many who have rejected the idea, including WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman who, back in 2022, explained his position in an interview with Planet Sport.

Despite this, undisputed women’s featherweight champion Serrano finally gets her wish this Friday night as she defends her titles against WBO mandatory challenger Ramos under the same conditions as the men.

The 35-year-old is no stranger to making history. Back in April 2022, Serrano and Katie Taylor became the first female duo to headline Madison Square Garden.

On that occasion, it was Taylor who won a split decision, though a rematch has been in the works ever since.

Serrano bounced back from the defeat in fine style, defeating Sarah Mahfoud, Erika Cruz and Heather Hardy – all via unanimous decision.

Ramos, who hails from Brazil and boasts a 12-2 record, arrives in Orlando looking to hand Serrano her third pro defeat.

The 38-year-old turned professional in 2017 and suffered both of her defeats while challenging for the WBC super-featherweight title against Elhem Mekhaled and Katharina Thanderz. Since then, she has won four in a row.
