NFL: New Orleans Saints WR Michael Thomas struggling for fitness in the off-season
Speaking at the Annual League Meeting, New Orleans Saints coach Dennis Allen revealed that wide receiver Michael Thomas isn't fully fit.
This statement may cause Saints supporters disappointment as they are all too familiar with Thomas's difficulty in staying healthy.
"I don't want to get into specifics on that, but yet, he's making progress in the recovery," Allen said, via the team's official website.
"He's not 100 percent, and we're going to be cautious with it and take our time. We don't want to put him out there until he's 100 percent."
Over the past three years, Thomas has only played ten games, missing the entire 2021 season and featuring in just three games last season.
Despite the ongoing concerns about his fitness, Allen believes that Thomas will be ready to play in the fall.
"I expect him to be fully healthy and ready to go," Allen added.
"When that point is, I don't want to get into those speculations. But we feel good about where he's at."
If he recovers completely by 2023, he could create a promising trio with Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
Nevertheless, it's hard to predict how the 30-year-old receiver will perform since he hasn't played much in the last two years.
