Man City vs Wolves tips and predictions: Four-star Citizens to continue free-scoring form

Man City are building up a head of steam in the Premier League title race and we expect their winning form to continue against Wolves on Saturday (1730 BST)

Man City must keep the wins coming when they face Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad.

Pep Guardiola’s side have reeled off five consecutive wins as they build momentum in their latest Premier League title scrap with the Gunners.

Mikel Arteta’s side have the advantage of playing first on the weekend and applying the pressure, but both sides will expect to come through this round of fixtures unscathed.

City have suffered the occasional setback at home in the form of a draw, but Wolves don’t look capable of upsetting the apple cart given their poor recent form.

Gary O’Neill’s side boosted their top-half prospects with a win over struggling Luton in their last match, yet that was just their second win in 10 in all competitions.

Notably, Wanderers have found more success against City than most in recent seasons, winning three of the previous nine meetings including the reverse fixture.

On the other hand, none of those fixtures came at the business end of the season. Guardiola’s team have won the last six meetings in January and beyond.

Goals have been a regular fixture when these sides meet with three or more in seven of eight meetings and four or more in half of those matches.

The champions seem to be finding their grove in front of goal having scored four or more goals in four of their last five contests, so we’ll back them to deliver again this weekend.

Team news

Ruben Dias and Phil Foden are expected to shake off an illness to return to the squad.

The news surrounding Ederson is less positive, meaning Stefan Ortega will replace City’s number one while he nurses a shoulder complaint.

Craig Dawson, Leon Chiwone and Pedro Neto are expected to miss out on Saturday.

Noha Lemina, Santiago Bueno, Rayan Ait-Nouri and Jean-Ricner Bellegarde could return from injury.
