Flop: Willie Mason
Toulon have released former League international Willie Mason after the Australian failed to make an impression at the Top 14 club
Flop: Willie Mason
Mason crossed-codes after an ill-fated spell playing for Super League outfit Hull Kingston Roves as Toulon looked for a replacement for another League convert, Sonny Bill Williams.
But the 32-year-old has struggled to make the Toulon starting line-up, appearing in two friendlies and just one Top 14 game - a 19-6 defeat to Montpellier back in September.
Mason was also recently involved in a heated social network exchange with Toulon fans after he was labeled ‘the biggest flop’ in the club’s history.
Mason, who also played union for the Barbarians, will now return to Australia after signing a short-term deal with hometown club Newcastle Knights.
