Brian McDermott has kept Leeds Rhinos’ feet grounded following their 58-12 victory over London Broncos, saying they are still not where they want to be
Four tries: Danny McGuire
The demolition of the struggling Super League outfit in which Danny McGuire scored four tries showed two sides in contrasting form ahead of the run-in.
“We are still not where we want to be as far as our league position goes,” McDermott told Press Association Sport following the impressive success.
“But we have a bit of momentum now, and a big game to come against Hull next week.
“I actually thought this was a really tough game. Of all the games where you look at it and say the scoreline did not reflect the match, this was it.
“It was a game of four quarters and we took the most of what came our way.”
Dejected Broncos coach Rob Powell added that he felt sympathy for those supporters who had spent their cash on watching his side fall away so badly.
“I feel sorry for the people who had to pay and see us capitulate like that,” he said.
“I do not think it is fair at this level to perform so poorly in the last 20 minutes of any game. When we are in a tight game we do not seem to be able to keep it going.
“At 24-12 down I thought we were well in it and were the better side but it never seems as though we can do it and that is sad.”
