Cecil confident of Frankel chances
The four-year-old is seen as one of flat racings brightest prospects after winning all of his five starts in 2011, including the 2000 Guineas and the Sussex Stakes
However, after suffering an injury scare in April he is yet to race this year, leading to fears he could struggle to compete at Newbury.
However, Cecil is confident that the colt will be in contention and has tipped him to play major part in Saturday’s race.
“Considering Frankel had a 10-day setback, I am pleased with the progress he has made in preparation for the Lockinge at Newbury on Saturday,” Cecil said on his official website.
“Some of the opposition have had a race, which is a great advantage, but I feel he has done enough to give a good account of himself.
“One thing I am pretty sure about is that he will come on for the race and will be a stronger and more settled horse this year.”
