Marques: Eyes first points
Moroka Swallows will be hoping to bounce back from their opening day defeat in the PSL when they host Ajax Cape Town on Wednesday
Marques: Eyes first points
The Dube Birds, runners-up last season, began the new campaign with a 3-1 defeat to Platinum Stars, leaving the Soweto outfit sweating over their future now that Gordon Igesund is no longer at the helm.
Zeca Marques was the man brought in as the new head coach, although he saw his side twice concede the lead against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-final first-leg at the weekend to eventually draw 3-3.
The Urban Warriors, meanwhile, needed a late goal from Terror Fanteni to earn a point against SuperSport United as their opening Premiership encounter at the Cape Town Stadium finished 1-1.
Maarten Stekelenburg’s men are, however, not part of this year’s MTN8 set-up, given their ninth-place finish last term, giving the Mother City outfit extra time to prepare for the midweek encounter.
In team news, Swallows have no new suspension concerns to deal with, while Marques also has a fully fit squad to choose from.
Ajax, meanwhile, will be without goalkeeper Sander Westerveld who is nursing an ankle injury he sustained against Matsatsantsa, meaning Sean Roberts will stand between the sticks.
Bradley Grobler will be hoping to make his debut for the Cape Town club, although he will be fighting for his place up front with Fanteni as Stekelenburg is expected to field just one striker against the Birds.
