Mabizela: We have balance

2012-07-19 10:06:13

Mbulelo Mabizela feels the new additions to the Wits squad will go a long way to ensuring they do not tail off towards the end of next season, as they have done in the past

Mabizela: We have balance Mabizela: Fresh hope

The Clever Boys have a penchant for starting well in the Premier Soccer League before slumping in the latter stages of the competition.

But having snapped up Aaron Mokoena, Tinashe Nengomasha, Thomas Sweswe, Tlou Molekwane, Matthew Pattison, Ayo Oluwafemi and Thokozani Mshengu, the former Bafana Bafana skipper expects his side to be challenging for honours in the 2012/2013 campaign.

Mabizela told the PSL’s website: “We have balance in the team now that we have assembled experience, something that was lacking before.

“I think we should be challenging for some silverware this coming season.”

The 32-year-old, who last played for Bafana over four years ago, has meanwhile, not given up hope of one day returning to the side.

He added: “Playing for the national team goes on performance.

“I will leave it to my performance on the field.”

Wits are in action on Saturday when they face SuperSport United and the winner of the clash between Moroka Swallows and Kaizer Chiefs in the pre-season one-day Gauteng Cup.
