Former Bury striker Ryan Lowe says underfire boss Richie Barker remains the best person for the job at Gigg Lane

Lowe sympathy for Barker Barker: worrisome winless streak

After looking good for a play-off berth Bury suddenly find themselves flirting with relegation following a run of 12 games without a victory.

But Lowe, who joined Sheffield Wednesday during the summer transfer window, has nothing but admiration for Barker’s meticulous match preparation.

He told the Bury Times: “It’s not nice to see managers getting sacked left, right and centre.

“For me there’s only one man for that job and it’s Richie Barker.

“He’s a very good manager. He watches games and gives players lots of information and useful advice about the opposition they are playing against. Every time his players go out, they have the best knowledge about who they are playing against that they could possibly have.

“The club is still a close-knit group and they need to use that togetherness to get them over the line.”
