Jomo Cosmos will make another bid for a stay of execution on Saturday afternoon when they host Maritzburg United at the Sinaba Stadium
Ezenkosi managed to hold top-eight hopefuls AmaZulu to a goalless draw in KwaMashu on Wednesday evening to stave off automatic relegation, although the result still left Cosmos rooted to the foot of the standings.
Jomo Sono’s side do, however, have more games in hand than any other team in the Premiership, and victory in their last three matches would guarantee the Benoni outfit safety as two of the ties are against relegation rivals Santos and Black Leopards.
Meanwhile, The Team of Choice occupy 11th in the standings, well clear of the drop zone but completely out of the running for a spot in next season’s MTN8.
United most recently played out a 1-1 draw against Usuthu last week, which was a vast improvement on their 4-1 hammering at Free State Stars three days earlier.
When the teams met previously this season in Pietermaritzburg, Ernst Middendorp’s men triumphed 3-1, although the KwaZulu-Natal outfit have struggled away from home this term with just one win from 14 matches on the road.
