Croatia have named former Hajduk Split, Cibalia and NK Zagreb boss Igor Stimac as Slaven Bilic’s replacement as national coach
Stimac: New Croatia boss
Bilic will take continue to take charge of Vatreni for the European Championship but will step down following the completion of the tournament to take up his new post as manager of Lokomotiv Moscow.
Along with Stimac’s appointment, Croatia have also confirmed that Davor Suker will take over as their FA’s new president.
Stimac told Slobodna Dalmacija: “I’m really happy that Vlatko Markovic [former president] has opened new opportunities in Croatian football when he decided to leave his presidential role.
“I’m also happy to be here, that I will be next national team coach.
“I’m looking forward to working with Davor Suker. But let’s be quiet about the plans, now we all have to support our team, who have just started preparations for Euro 2012.”
