Mansfield Town manager Paul Cox is determined to steer his team to promotion next season
Cox, who joined the Stags a year ago, led the club to a third-place finish in the recently concluded Blue Square Bet Premier campaign.
And although he was distraught after Mansfield lost to York City in their play-off semi-final, Cox insists the setback has strengthened his resolve.
“If anything, this season has given me the appetite to go one better,” Cox told This is Nottingham.
“I am not one to feel sorry for myself, the hunger is already there and we have to turn the negatives into positives.
“We need more quality bringing into the football club and that will cost money.
“The nucleus is there. It does not need mass changes but we do need something because we missed out for a reason - and that means we need more quality in depth.
“We need a squad to be able to compete for the championship and for trophies.
“We need to be greedy because the hunger is there to be successful.”
