The Russian Football Union (RFU) has confirmed talks with Fabio Capello about succeeding Dick Advocaat as national team coach

Advocaat vacated his post following Russia’s exit from Euro 2012 at the group stages, with the Dutchman having already agreed to take up the reins at PSV Eindhoven next season.
Capello has been out of a job since resigning as England manager in February, and Russian sports minister Vitaly Mutko has revealed that the Italian was interviewed for the vacant role.
Mutko went on to add that the RFU were planning dialogues with the remaining candidates, which include Harry Redknapp, Rafael Benitez and Pep Guardiola after they were all named on the shortlist released on Tuesday.
“They [the RFU] received Capello today and conducted negotiations,” Mutko told the RIA Novosti news agency. “From here, we move on to the next candidate.
“I think that over the course of a week, and certainly by next Tuesday, all the consultations with the managers on our list will be held.”
